This Session is number 2 of a 3 part series where we explore the uses of design tools in fusion 360.
Fusion 360 has many in-built tools that improve the user experience and make 3D design simple and efficient. However, even with all these shortcuts to design available to us, there are still many design tasks that are either, very difficult or very time consuming to complete. There is a solution, as with most things to do with software. Repetitive tasks that fit that description will often have been come across before and it is highly likely that some clever CAD guru has written a script that is able to do a lot of the grunt work for you. Fortunately Fusion 360 has made it super simple for you to gain access to these scripts, unfortunately some of the scripts are so beneficial that the Autodesk team have decided users must pay to get them. That aside the free add-ins are still very good, and some come pre-installed. One such add-in is the Spur Gear Script.
In this session the use of the Spur Gear Script is demonstrated. There are a few settings that can be confusing at first but what you need to know is covered in the recording. Below is a brief step by step example for how to create a simple spur gear:

The following session recording goes through designing a simple set of gears. How to align them and get the gears rotating as they would in a built example.
In the next part of the series we will discuss creating different types of gears. The options you have here and the add-in/script you can get free to help you do more with fusion 360.
If there are any questions about this session you may ask them below or on our forum.
